Dr. Egbuna was born in New York. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Nigeria. He continued his medical training with an Internship at the Brooklyn Hospital center affiliate of the Weill Medical College of Cornell University and completed his Residency at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. Dr. Egbuna then went on to complete his fellowship training in gastroenterology at the University of Missouri -Kansas City [UMKC].

Dr. Egbuna has been actively involved in clinical research. His research in Celiac disease, colonoscopy optimization and Gastroparesis have been presented at several national gastroenterology meetings. His research has also been published in leading peer-reviewed gastroenterology journals such as The American Journal of Gastroenterology, Digestive Diseases and Sciences, and Digestive and Liver Diseases.

He has special interests in therapeutic endoscopy, Inflammatory bowel disease, Celiac disease, viral hepatitis and Fatty liver disease.
